Arusha

We had planned to spend a day here, and booked a beautiful hotel on the outskirts of the city, up in the hills, but Kenya Air persuaded us to spend the day at the Nairobi airport instead (our alternative was to walk to Tanzania).  (Yannis thinks they wanted a little more time to ensure they could lose Tasha's bag.)

Yannis, a.k.a. travel agent extraordinaire, chose four different places in Tanzania for us to spend 3 nights each.  Each of the places he chose had a very different character, and they complemented one another beautifully.  Click on the individual links below.  Warning:  We have taken quite a few photos, so these pages are a little slow to load

From Tanzania we went back to Egypt, Luxor to be specific, although we stopped off in Nairobi (for another day at the airport courtesy of Kenya Air), Dubai for a "midnight snack" (again, thanks to Kenya Air) and Cairo.  The trip from Arusha to Luxor took 38 hours instead of the expected 12.
