On Safari!

5:00 a.m. - Rise and shine!
This is before sunrise, well before sunrise! But of course you want to be
at Crocodile Bridge with they open the park. This is one of the times when
the animals are most active. They also run out of tickets, and then you
can't go into the park! So we all rolled out of bed when Andre
knocked. The kids slept in their clothes. Everyone pretended to eat
a little cereal and then it was off!
We traveled in style in Land Rovers
custom built for the adventure. The view was good and it was best not to
think too hard about hungry lions.
Our guides, Andre and Andrew, were
very knowledgeable, as well as being quite proficient at making elaborate meals
at the picnic sites!

We did have a couple of equipment failures:
Da
y 2 shortly
after an entirely too close encounter with a male elephant in must
we got a flat tire. Then Day 3 we lost the same tire again!!! Luckily Andrew's mom, Pat, swept in and saved the day and we got to pump her for
good embarrassing stories about Andrew!

Our safaris ended each night after a
beautiful African sunset, and were followed up by a lovely dinner at our outdoor
living space!
